Odyon stands on a lot of open-source work. Here's what's inside the plugin and the web app, who wrote it, and the terms it's provided under.
1. Scope
Odyon is built on the work of others. This page lists the third-party software distributed inside the Odyon desktop plugin, used by the Odyon web application, and used in the services we run on your behalf to generate, convert, separate and render audio — together with the licences that software is provided under. Nothing on this page grants you any rights in Odyon itself. Your use of Odyon is governed by the Terms of Service and, for the plugin, the Plugin EULA. The complete licence texts for the components bundled in the plugin also ship inside the plugin itself, as NOTICES.txt under Contents/Resources in both Odyon.vst3 and Odyon.component.
2. JUCE Framework
The Odyon plugin is built with the JUCE framework — © Raw Material Software Limited — used under a commercial JUCE licence obtained from juce.com. JUCE is dual-licensed under the AGPLv3 and a commercial licence; Odyon is distributed under the commercial licence, not the AGPLv3. The components in sections 3 to 5 are bundled by JUCE and compiled into the plugin binary.
3. VST® 3 SDK
The plugin's VST 3 support is built on the Steinberg VST 3 SDK, version 3.8.0, distributed under the MIT License. The full notice follows. MIT License Copyright (c) 2025, Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
4. Audio Units
The plugin's Audio Unit build uses Apple's AudioUnitSDK, distributed under the Apache License 2.0. The full licence text is available at apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 and is reproduced in the NOTICES.txt file shipped inside the plugin.
5. Other Components in the Plugin
The following components are bundled by JUCE and compiled into the shipped macOS plugin. Each is used under its own licence, reproduced in full in NOTICES.txt inside the plugin. — HarfBuzz — text shaping — Old MIT License — SheenBidi — Unicode bidirectional text — Apache License 2.0 — FLAC — lossless audio decoding — BSD — Ogg Vorbis — audio decoding — BSD — zlib — compression — zlib licence — libpng — PNG decoding — zlib/libpng licence — libjpeg — JPEG decoding — Independent JPEG Group licence
6. Web Application
The Odyon web application is built on open-source software distributed under permissive licences — predominantly MIT, Apache 2.0 and ISC. The principal components are React and Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Framer Motion, Three.js, Tone.js, Konva, WaveSurfer.js, dnd-kit and lucide. Audio conversion in the browser uses ffmpeg.wasm: the JavaScript wrapper is MIT, and the ffmpeg core it loads is distributed under the LGPL/GPL. A complete, versioned dependency list with licence texts is available on request from legal@odyon.ai.
7. Machine-Learning Components
Odyon runs open-source machine-learning models to generate, convert, separate and render audio. This section names them and the licences they are provided under. A model's code and its trained weights are often licensed differently, and where that is the case we state the weights' licence, because that is the one that governs how the model may be run. Music and sound design — text-to-music generation uses MusicGen (Meta): the audiocraft code is MIT, and the model weights are distributed under CC BY-NC 4.0. Sound-effect and short-sample generation uses Stable Audio Open 1.0 (Stability AI) under the Stability AI Community License, which permits commercial use below an annual-revenue threshold and prohibits using the model's output to train other audio models. Both run on Replicate's hosted infrastructure rather than ours. "This Stability AI Model is licensed under the Stability AI Community License, Copyright © Stability AI Ltd." Vocals — spoken vocals use OpenAI's tts-1 under OpenAI's commercial API terms. Sung and stylised vocals use Bark (suno-ai), MIT for both code and weights. Voice conversion uses rvc-python (MIT, © 2023 Danil Boldyrev) with a ContentVec/HuBERT content encoder and the RMVPE pitch tracker; RMVPE's weights are published without a licence file. Sung-vocal rendering uses DiffSinger (Apache-2.0 for the openvpi fork; MIT © 2021 Jinglin Liu upstream) with the NSF-HiFiGAN vocoder, and vocal effects use Pedalboard, which is distributed under the GPLv3. Stem separation and audio-to-MIDI — stem separation uses Demucs (Meta). The code is MIT, but the pre-trained weights are not covered by it: the project's maintainer states they are provided for scientific purposes. Audio-to-MIDI uses Basic Pitch (Spotify), Apache-2.0. The NSF-HiFiGAN vocoder is distributed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and its notice requires that the datasets and individual contributors behind it be acknowledged: Opencpop, CCMUSIC, and SingingVoiceDataset, together with approximately 45 individual contributors named in the model's own NOTICE file. Our development English voice was trained on Project AI-dol, distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0, whose author asks to be credited by name — Lotte V (@lottev1991) — and whose licence does not transfer her publicity, privacy or personality rights in her own voice. This list covers the models in the current production path. It is not a claim that no other open-source component is present anywhere in the service. The full acknowledgement lists and licence texts are available on request from legal@odyon.ai.
